Shoulder Pain and Car Crashes

We treat many car accident cases in in our Prescott office, and a common symptom we see in our patients is shoulder pain. What causes shoulder pain after an auto collision? How can chiropractic help?

There are at least two different ways that you can develop shoulder problems after a crash: by direct injury to the shoulder or by radiating pain from the neck.

Direct damage can be caused by hitting your shoulder on a hard surface in the car during the crash, or can occur if you have a tight grip on the steering wheel during a rear end collision. With this type of trauma, you'll often be aware of the pain soon after the wreck.

More frequently, Weary Chiropractic Clinic finds that shoulder or arm pain doesn't immediately appear after a collision, but starts a few days or weeks after the injury. This type of shoulder pain actually starts in the cervical spine. Injured muscles or ligaments in your spine can squeeze nerves in your neck, causing numbness, tingling, or pain in your shoulder, elbow, or wrist.

We've worked with many types of shoulder problems in our Prescott office. This treatment involves chiropractic adjustments to restore your spine's natural flexibility and home exercises that strengthen your neck and shoulder.

Let us help you recover from shoulder pain. Weary Chiropractic Clinic has helped many people with the same problem, and we can probably help you, too. The first step is to get an accurate diagnosis to determine what's causing your symptoms and then we will determine an appropriate treatment approach. Call us today at (928) 778-2227 if you have questions or would like to make an appointment.
