Shoulder Pain and Car Accidents

Shoulder Pain is a common condition after an auto collision, and it's something that Weary Chiropractic Clinic sees often in our Prescott office. What causes shoulder pain after an auto collision? How can chiropractic care help?

There are at least two ways that you can get shoulder pain after a car crash: by direct trauma to the shoulder joint or by radiating pain from the neck.

Direct injury can be caused by striking your shoulder on a hard object in the car during the crash, or can occur if you have a tight grip on the steering wheel during a rear end crash. With this type of injury, you'll usually be aware of the pain shortly after the wreck.

More frequently, Weary Chiropractic Clinic finds that shoulder or arm pain doesn't immediately appear after a crash, but starts a few days or weeks after the trauma. This type of shoulder discomfort actually starts in the neck. Injured soft tissue in your spine can tweak nerves in your neck, causing numbness, tingling, or pain in your shoulder, elbow, or wrist.

We've treated both kinds of shoulder pain in our Prescott office. This approach involves chiropractic adjustments to restore your spine's natural mobility and exercises that strengthen your neck and shoulder.

Let us help you recover from shoulder pain. Weary Chiropractic Clinic has helped many patients with the same condition, and we can probably help you, too. The first step is to get an accurate diagnosis to determine what's causing your pain and then we will determine an appropriate treatment strategy.
